CLIFTON FORGE, VA (VR) – The Chesapeake & Ohio Historical Society and the Alleghany Cruisers will be jointly hosting the 3rd Annual Chessie Car Show at the C&O Heritage Center in Clifton Forge VA on Saturday July 11, 2026.

This event is a fund raiser for the C&O Historical Society which houses its archives, and operates the C&O Heritage Center in Clifton Forge VA. The C&O Historical Society is a nonprofit organization committed to preserving the extensive and colorful history of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway.

“The C&O Heritage Center in Clifton Forge is an awesome facility; it is one of the best tourist draws in the area and it is a huge asset to the community.”: said Alleghany Cruisers President Robert Floyd. “There are some hard-working people with the C&OHS in our area, and organizations like this need our support.”

The funds raised at this event will allow the C&OHS to continue to make improvements to the C&O Railway Heritage Center, which in turn will create a better experience for visitors.

The Chessie Car Show will be held from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm with registration opening at 8:30 am. This event is open to all types of cars. The $15.00 registration fee also includes admission to the museum facilities at the C&O Heritage Center. The entry fee covers everyone in the entrant’s vehicle. The first 40 entrants will receive a dash plaque and a goodie bag. Entrants will also be eligible for the Chessie’s Pick Top Ten awards which are new
this year.

In addition to classic cars there will be a large raffle, a 50/50 drawing, door prizes, food service provided by the Clifton Forge Little League and Italian Ice, a raffle for a Walthers HO scale C&O locomotive, and a live D.J. The air-conditioned Heritage Center features many exhibits including a large operating model train layout, numerous artifacts and exhibits.

Outside you can explore historic rail equipment in the Smith Creek yard and ride the Little C&O Railway.

This year there will also be activities for the kids and a dance performance by A1 studios.

“Last year’s Chessie Car Show was a great event, we are looking forward to an even better event this year.”: said Alleghany Cruisers president Robert Floyd. “This is definably a unique car show experience as not only do you get show cars of all types, but you get to explore the rich history of the Chesapeake & Ohio railroad.”

The C&O Heritage Center is located at 705 Main St in Clifton Forge VA. For more information about this event contact the C&O Historical Society at 540 862-2210 or Robert

Floyd of the Alleghany Cruisers at 540 691-4626. More information is also available at www.alleghanycruisers.com.
