CLIFTON FORGE, VA (VR) – The Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Tourism in coordination with the Alleghany Highlands VA250 Planning Committee is excited to announce that the VA250 Commission’s Mobile Museum Experience, “Out of Many, One,” will visit downtown Clifton Forge from May 29–31, 2026.
The immersive and interactive museum will be set-up along the 600 block of Main Street in downtown Clifton Forge, adjacent to the annual C&O Railway Heritage Festival festivities, and will be open free of charge to the public throughout the weekend.
Public hours for the Mobile Museum Experience are:
Friday, May 29 | 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Saturday, May 30 | 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Sunday, May 31 | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
The VA250 Mobile Museum is a state-of-the-art traveling exhibition that brings Virginia’s rich history to communities across the Commonwealth through engaging exhibits, interactive displays, and educational storytelling that highlights the people, events, and ideas that shaped the nation.
The visit is part of the ongoing efforts of the Alleghany Highlands VA250 Planning Committee, a collaboration of community organizations, local governments, educators, tourism partners, and volunteers working to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States while
showcasing the Alleghany Highlands’ unique contributions to Virginia and American history.
“Bringing the VA250 Mobile Museum Experience back to the Alleghany Highlands is something our planning group has been incredibly excited about,” said Makayla Nobles, Events & Special Projects Coordinator for the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Tourism. “A great deal of
collaboration and planning has gone into making this possible, and we are especially excited that local students will also have the opportunity to experience the museum.”
Last year, the planning committee successfully brought the Mobile Museum Experience to downtown Covington during the Streetscene event, where more than 500 visitors toured the exhibit over the course of the weekend.
“This is another exciting opportunity for residents and visitors alike to experience a nationally significant educational attraction right here in the Alleghany Highlands,” said Josh Taylor, Executive Director of the Chamber. “Our local VA250 planning group has worked diligently to create meaningful and engaging opportunities surrounding America’s 250th anniversary, and we are thrilled to bring this experience to Clifton Forge this year.”
The Alleghany Highlands continues to expand its local VA250 efforts through exhibits, educational programming, community events, and historical storytelling initiatives leading up to America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
