Dear Editor,

Attention to all Cold War and peacetime veterans such as myself. The local VFW and Auxiliary Post 1033 will hold  a ceremony in front of the courthouse on Main Street in Covington at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, the 25th of May.

I would ask for any of you that can spare an hour or less of your time to assist the local law enforcement and public works in providing these people who willingly sacrificed their lives to honor their comrades in arms that paid that price to ensure our freedom.

We will need  to form a line behind the public works barricades that people ignore and interrupt these people’s tribute to local veterans who paid the price protecting their freedom.

These heroes will all soon be gone. Each year their number grows smaller. They deserve better from the citizens of this area.

I have no phone or computer. If you can spare the time, meet at the Farmer’s Market on the corner of Main St. and Monroe Ave. at 11:30 a.m. on the 25th of May 2026.

Respectfully ,
Harper A. Terry
