CLIFTON FORGE, VA (VR) – JJ Musgrove joins the Historic Masonic Theatre bringing 30+ years of arts administration and nonprofit leadership experience. He has extensive experience in fundraising and donor relations, philanthropy, community partnerships, and building organizational cultures grounded in transparency and trust.
“It will be a pleasure to introduce JJ to the community and welcome him to the Theatre”, said Teresa Hammond, Interim Executive Director. “While it has been a privilege serving as the Interim Executive Director, I am thrilled to transition this role to JJ while continuing to work alongside him as a Board Member. We look forward to preserving and protecting The Historic Masonic Theatre, a significant tourism asset in our community and expanding the programs it provides.”
Musgrove has a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Graceland University in Iowa, a Master’s in Theatre from the University of Central Missouri, and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership from Columbus (GA) State University. He is a former resident company actor at the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia, and was the coordinator for the Barter Appalachian New Play Festival. He has been actively involved in either professional or community theatre throughout his career as well as producing and writing for a murder mystery dinner theatre company with his wife, Dr. Kate Musgrove, for 15 years in Columbus, Georgia.

I felt an immediate connection with the community and the board and I am very passionate about the mission of HMT. I am honored to be joining a staff and board that has worked so diligently over the past few years to carve out a vision where the HMT can be a catalyst for continued regional economic growth and connecting communities through entertainment, education, and cultural relevance.”
Originally from Butler, Missouri, Musgrove has served as the Executive Director for the Columbus (GA) Symphony Orchestra, Director for the Office of Cultural Affairs in Columbia, Missouri, Vice President of Donor Relations at the Community Foundation of the Chattahoochee Valley in Columbus, Georgia, and the President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Burke County in North Carolina.
