Donald Lee Loan, age 80, of 24242 Mountain Valley Road, Millboro, Virginia died Thursday, January 24, 2019 at his residence.
He was born April 20, 1938 in Bath County, Virginia to the late Ira F. and Camilla Swearengin Loan.
He served in the United States Air Force and was a retired heavy equipment operator for Plecker Construction Company.  He enjoyed NASCAR racing and watching westerns on television. He loved visiting his friends and neighbors, as well as his homeplace on Pig Run Road.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters, Jasper Loan, Clifford Loan, Brant Loan, Elmer Loan, and his twin, Dennis Loan, Gladys Vest, Elva Shanks, and Kathleen Bottenfield.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Riley Loan of Millboro; two daughters, Julie Brinkley and husband Dennis of Millboro and Tammy Entsminger and husband Carter of Clifton Forge; a son, Dale Loan and wife Annette of Millboro; six grandchildren, Danielle Martin, Derek Brinkley, Kimberly Martin, Greg Loan, Eric Vess, and Jacob Vess; a great grandson, Austin Martin, and a great grandson “on the way”; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Phillip Clark and Paul Clark.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 2:00 PM in Woodland Union Church, Millboro with Reverend David George officiating.  
Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Millboro.  
Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Derek Brinkley, Greg Loan, Eric Vess, and Jacob Vess, as well as  Lewis Riley, James Riley, Timmy Plecker, and Benny Matheney. The family will visit with friends on Sunday afternoon from 12:30 PM until the time of service at Woodland Union Church.
Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is handling arrangements.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Millboro Area Rescue Squad, ATTN: Treasurer, P.O. Box 295, Millboro, VA  24460.
