LOW-MOOR, Va. (VR) – Alleghany boys tennis showed fight across the board, but came up short in a tight overall matchup, splitting key moments in singles and dropping several close doubles decisions.
In singles play, Bubby Entsminger pushed deep before falling 6-8 in the opening match. Ayven Warren dropped a 4-8 decision, while Riley Smith and Colten Jones were both held to 1-8 losses as the middle of the lineup struggled to gain traction.
Parker Willis delivered one of the cleanest wins of the day, controlling his match 8-2 with steady baseline play and strong service games. Quinten Harris closed singles on a high note for Alleghany, battling through a tight finish to secure an 8-6 win.
Doubles brought the closest margins of the day but not the results. Brewster/Smith fell 2-8, Warren/Willis were edged 7-9 in a back-and-forth battle, and Jones/Harris narrowly dropped an 8-9 decision, highlighting how thin the gap was across multiple courts.
