COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – The lady Cougars took control in doubles after a 3-3 split in singles to secure the match against Stuarts Draft.
In singles play, Alayla Morgan earned an 8-5 win, while Mylee Dunbar and Lexy Wills each posted 8-2 victories. Haley Ryder added a tight 9-7 win. Lanie McCormick fell 3-8 and Kara Nicely dropped an 8-5 decision.
Alleghany flipped the momentum in doubles, winning all three flights. McCormick and Morgan handled their match 8-3. Ryder and Wills edged out a 9-7 win, and Nicely and Dunbar closed it with an 8-2 victory.
The Alleghany boys built an early edge in singles and finished the job with a doubles sweep to secure the match against the Draft, moving to 6-4 overall and 4-4 in the district.
In singles play, Ayven Warren led with an 8-2 win, Riley Smith followed with an 8-4 victory, and Parker Willis added another 8-2 result. Quinten Harris controlled his match 8-1, while Colten Jones dropped a 2-8 decision.
Alleghany carried the momentum into doubles, winning all three flights. Warren and Smith teamed for an 8-5 win, Harris and Brewster earned an 8-4 victory, and Tallman and Persinger picked up a win by forfeit.
