COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Covington Middle School turned in a dominant, all-around performance, using a high-powered offense and controlled pitching to defeat Bath 15-3.
Covington’s approach at the plate set the tone early and never let up. The lineup consistently produced hard contact while showing patience, drawing eight walks and forcing Bath to work through extended innings. That combination led to multiple scoring opportunities and allowed Covington to build separation quickly.
Miyah Howard sparked the offense from the top, finishing 2-for-3 with two triples, repeatedly putting pressure on the defense with extra-base speed. Annistyn Lewis provided production in the middle of the order, going 2-for-5 with a single and a triple, while Alyssa Shifflett matched that output, going 2-for-3 with a single and a triple. Abby Forbes added to the balanced effort, going 1-for-1 with a single to keep innings moving.
Covington’s ability to string together hits and capitalize on free passes led to sustained rallies, preventing Bath from settling in defensively at any point in the game.
In the circle, Howard and Shifflett combined for 10 strikeouts, controlling the game with consistent command and limiting Bath’s scoring chances. The duo worked efficiently, pitching out of trouble when necessary and maintaining the lead throughout.
