BUENA VISTA — Parry McCluer started fast here Friday night.
The two-time defending state champions jumped to a 25-5 first-quarter advantage and cruised past Covington, 60-14, in a Pioneer District girls basketball contest.
Madison Dunlap scored 15 for Parry McCluer (3-0 Pioneer, 6-2 overall), while Katie Claytor added 10.
Cristi Persinger led the Cougars (1-2 Pioneer, 2-8 overall) with six points, Ariel Barber had five and Amiah Hunter added three.
Covington was back in action today against Waynesboro at Western Albemarle.
The Blues were a 54-10 JV winner.
Samya Allen had five for CHS, Lauren Bragg had four and Allison Douglas added one.
