COVINGTON, Va, (VR) - Families turned out in large numbers Saturday for the City of Covington Parks and Recreation’s Youth Day, enjoying a full afternoon of activities and entertainment. The event featured performances from two dance troupes from the Alleghany Highlands, while kids took part in archery, painting, the bungee trampoline, fishing with Douthat State Park, kart racing, free putt-putt golf and more. The well-attended event highlighted another outstanding job by the City of Covington Parks and Recreation staff in bringing the community together for a fun-filled day. Aileen McNeal

Mary “Aileen” Cauley McNeal, age 93, of 507 Kings Hollow Road in Millboro, Virginia died on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at The Woodlands in Clifton Forge, Virginia. 

Aileen was born on September 25, 1932 in Bath County, Virginia to the late Russell T. and Pearl Jack Cauley.  She was a homemaker throughout her life, and also a sales representative for Avon for 41 years. She was a faithful worker at Wesminister Chapel, played the piano, and was active her entire life.   She loved gardening and her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Aileen was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Garland McNeal in 2005 and a brother, Rohe Arnold Cauley.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth B. McNeal and wife Rose of Millboro; two grandchildren, Brandon McNeal and Shannon McNeal; two great grandchildren, Riley McNeal and Colin Barksdale; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Wesminister Chapel, Bath County with Reverend Helen “Punker” Robertson officiating.  Interment will follow in Westminister Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
