Three local businesses are being recognized for their support of public education.
The Alleghany County School Board on Monday nominated Alcova Mortgage, Cucci’s Pizzeria and the Clifton Forge Public Library for the Virginia School Boards Association’s Business Honor Roll.
Jason Helmintoller of Alcova Mortgage and Marco Cucci of Cucci’s Pizzeria were on hand to receive certificates of recognition from the school board.
Monday’s meeting was held at Alleghany High School.
The VSBA?recognizes businesses that support public education in various ways, such as helping schools with in-kind or financial contributions, donating to scholarship programs, supporting extracurricular activities, offering internship opportunities, volunteering in the schools and sponsoring field trips.
A resolution approved by the school board Monday says that work by Alcova Mortgage, Cucci’s and the Clifton Forge Public Library “has aided this community in focusing on the goal of providing the best public schools we can for every child who attends them.”
