Roselyn

Ballard Boone

Roselyn Ballard Boone, 95, of Covington, died Monday, January 5, 2025 at her residence.

She was born August 15, 1930, in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Porter Ballard, Sr. and Allie Louise Mines Ballard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Roger C. Boone in 2020; a brother, Porter “Bud” Ballard, Jr.; and two sisters, Helen Marshall and Sandra Herrmann.

Roselyn worked for several years at the former Sears Roebuck store in Covington and at the former H&C Auto Parts store. A graduate of Dunlap High School, she was a charter member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and, in her later years, a faithful member of United Baptist Church. She cherished sewing, needlepoint, tending her flower garden, camping with family, attending craft fairs, and her devoted church work.

Surviving are her two sons, Stephen Boone of Covington and Preston “Butch” Boone of Plant City, FL; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Sandra Ballard of Covington.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Reverand Bill Gilliland officiating. The family will receive their friends from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.

Interment will be made at Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family asks that memorial contributions in Roselyn’s name be made to: ACG Hospice, 427 Lee-Jackson Hwy, Suite A3, Staunton, VA 24401 or online at acghospice.com.

Arritt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
