Virginia Tech Dining Services is a key partner in the university’s effort to reduce food waste. Dining currently sends about 300 tons of food waste and compostable service ware each year to an off-campus composting facility, material that could eventually be processed at the planned facility at Kentland Farm. NARROWS — Selena Wolfe and Paizlie Lovern hooked up in quite the pitcher’s duel here Tuesday.
Narrows answered two Bath County 10th inning runs with three in the home half, pulling out a 5-4 Pioneer District softball win.
Allison Grose drove in Bailey Chambers with the game-winning run.
Lovern scattered eight hits and didn’t give up an earned run, striking out eight and walking three for the Green Wave (1-0 Pioneer, 4-5 overall).

Wolfe was just as effective.
The Charger junior allowed 10 hits and two earned runs. She struck out 18 and didn’t walk a batter.
Wolfe and Persephane Woods both had two hits for the Chargers, while Chaya Offer, Isabella Ryder and Malia Whittington had one apiece.
Offer scored twice and Wolfe drove in a pair of runs.
Bath County (0-1 Pioneer, 0-6 overall) plays at Pocahontas County, W.Va. next Tuesday.
