Cora Bell Humphreys Kennedy
Cora Bell Humphreys Kennedy, age 94, of 67 Clarkson Lane, Millboro, Virginia died on Friday, November 28, 2025, at her residence.
Cora Bell was born on April 1, 1931, in Goshen, Virginia to the late Alonzo Humphreys and Grace Wilfong Humphreys. She was a longtime clerk for the Millboro General Store and member of Millboro Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing BINGO at any of the local BINGO hosting establishments and loved to travel with her sister. Two of her favorite destinations were Japan and Hawaii.
In addition to her parents, Cora was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Kennedy; siblings, Billy Humphreys, Frances Martin, Gertrude Argenbright, Myrtle Humphreys, and Eugene Humphreys; her daughter-in-law, Rhonda M. Kennedy; and a grandson, Aidan Kennedy McCool.
She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy “Dot” Townsend and husband Ernie of Fishersville, Margie Kennedy and husband Todd Sink of Waynesboro, and Kathy Jo Mayberry of Millboro; her son, Donald Kennedy of Millboro; grandchildren, Ginger R. Kennedy, E. Todd Townsend, and Mandy Mayberry with step grandson, Danny Grimm; great grandchildren, Lauren M. Townsend, Althea Mayberry, and Bryanna Molinari with step great grandson, Daniel Grimm; a great great grandson, Monie Molinari; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, William Wolfe, Jr. and Teresa Smiley.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Scott Conrad officiating. Interment will follow in Little River Cemetery in Goshen. Pallbearers will be nephews, Freddie Martin, Mike Argenbright, Robert Humphreys, and W. H. Heishman, with Johnny Mayberry and William Wolfe, Jr. Bobby Burke and Jesse Simmons will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
