WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS W.Va. (VR) – Massage therapy involves soft tissues of the body and is often used as a relaxation technique but is also sometimes performed as a way to relieve pain. Located in White Sulphur Springs, NMB Therapeutics is a new business focusing on muscles and imbalances.
“In essence, we try to resolve pain issues resulting from soft tissue,” says owner Lee Forbes. “In West Virginia, we are licensed as massage therapists. NMB Therapeutics is neuromuscular balancing, and we utilize techniques that are unique in that we’re able to root out the causes of the pain that people are experiencing.”
According to Forbes, who formerly owned and operated Arukah Touch in Beaver, West Virginia, his resolution rate is in the 90th percentile. “You’d be surprised at the number of people we’ve been able to help,” he said. When asked if patients need a doctor’s referral or if they can just walk in, Forbes replied, “They can just come directly to us, but we do have some doctors that refer to us. We work with everything, including migraines, plantar fasciitis, hips, elbows, TMJ disorders, frozen shoulders, etc.”
In addition to standard massage therapy techniques and red light therapy, NMB Therapeutics also offers pulsed electromagnetic frequency. “There are only 200 units in the United States, and we have one of them,” Forbes says.
When asked if he had a message for potential clients who were dealing with pain but were apprehensive about seeking alternative treatments, Forbes invites them to consider all options. “I highly recommend people come see us. As of right now, we can usually get them a session in a day or so.”
Clients interested in a session can expect an initial two-hour visit. “For the first 30 minutes, we assess and evaluate how everything came to be where it is,” Forbes says. “Then we jump in and for the next 1.5 hours, we do the work that needs to be done. Usually, one trip does it, but occasionally we’ll have someone come in for a follow-up. For the most part, we’re a one-and-done operation.” A typical 2-hour session costs $300, with additional hours billed at $150/hour. NMB Therapeutics does not accept insurance as payment; however, Forbes suggests that clients consult with their carrier, as some do reimburse for massage therapy.
NMB Therapeutics is located next to Appalachian Handmade at 169 Pocahontas Trail in White Sulphur Springs. Their grand opening was held on Friday, October 3.
