CLIFTON FORGE, Va. (VR) — Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) as part of the Middle School Campus Project.
The funding will support a special event hosted on MGCC’s Clifton Forge campus, welcoming students in grades 5 through 7 from four regional middle schools across three counties. The day-long experience will feature engaging activities designed to introduce young learners to the college
environment and inspire future educational goals.
Planned for Spring 2026, the Roadrunner Middle School Day will include a campus tour led by current college students, interactive sessions with college professors and staff members, and a Q&A panel with current college students. There will also be the opportunity for middle school students
to engage in hands-on activities related to college majors and careers.
“The Middle School Campus Visit project is an inspiring opportunity for students to ignite their curiosity and explore the exciting possibilities of their future careers,” said Dr. Benjamin Worth, MGCC Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Mountain Gateway hosts the popular Roadrunner Day each fall for high school Juniors and Seniors. Roadrunner Middle School Day is a chance to extend the educational exploration to more students at a younger age.
Family members of participating middle school students are invited and encouraged to join the campus visit. For more information, please contact Mountain Gateway Student Services at 540-863- 2825.
