ROANOKE, Va. (VR) – On September 24, 2025, at 9:18 p.m., a United Airlines Embraer EMB-145XR overshot the landing at the Roanoke/Blacksburg Airport in the City of Roanoke. Upon touching down the plane did not have sufficient runway to stop and ran off the end of the runway. Tail number N21129 was landing and did not provide enough braking distance to bring the plane to a stop and continued off the end of the paved runway onto the E-MAS (Emergency Stopping Equipment).
There were 53 passengers and crew on the aircraft, and no injuries were reported.
The FAA was notified and will investigate the cause of the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
