DALEVILLE, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany High School golf team continued its season on Tuesday with an 18-hole varsity match against James River at Botetourt Country Club. The match was played in the traditional 4-count-6 format, with each school sending six players and the best four scores used for the team total. Both squads also brought two additional golfers for the learning experience.

One of those extras, eighth grader Jagger Rowland, turned in one of the most impressive performances of the day. Rowland fired an 81, the third-best individual score in the match, though his round was not eligible to be included in the team scoring.

For Alleghany, it was a day of personal milestones. Graham Brewster recorded his career-best score with an 80, highlighted by two birdies and a memorable two on the par-4 12th hole. Meanwhile, Landon Arritt capped his round in spectacular fashion, jarred out a sand wedge on the par-4 18th for an eagle 2.

Alleghany will return to action Thursday when they travel to Valley View in White Sulphur Springs to face Greenbrier East.

Individual Scores:

Kai Rowland 89
Bubby Entsminger 97
Landon Arritt 84
Jaxon Deem 91
Graham Brewster 80
Gavin Randozzo 84
Jagger Rowland 81
Trista Reynolds 123
