COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Folks of all ages lined the streets of downtown Covington on Monday morning to take in the sights and sounds of the Covington Paper Workers Union 675 annual Labor Day parade.
It was a beautiful day for a parade, and the weather helped set the tone for the 45-minute event that brought a variety of entries keeping the crowd engaged from start to finish. Local Shriners once again entertained with their trademark small cars, while politicians, emergency response vehicles, and classic cars added to the lineup.
The Alleghany High School Marching Band and cheerleaders drew loud applause, and the area’s recreation football teams proudly represented their programs. A highlight of the parade came when the Soul Rhythm Line Dancers performed to honor veterans and first responders, earning a warm ovation from spectators.
The Virginian Review has complete video coverage of the parade available on both its Facebook and YouTube accounts.
