COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – The Covington Middle School volleyball team is off to a strong start, showing exactly what it means to play team ball. With ten returners back on the floor, the group is already building on last year’s foundation. That showed on opening night as the CMS Lady Cougars handled Northside Middle School in straight sets, 25-12 and 25-17, to earn a home-opening win. Eva Arritt and Abby Forbes have emerged as vocal leaders early, guiding a roster packed with experience. All of the girls who started the opener are back from a season ago, joined again by Journee Tate, Journee Miller, Alyssa Shifflett, and Paisley Scott. The Lady Cougars will be back in action on Monday when they host Christiansburg, first serve 4:30.
