Richard Lilly
Mr. Richard Preston Lilly, age 81, of Covington, died on Friday, August 1, 2025, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Joyce Ann Brogan Lilly who preceded him in death in 2024.
Mr. Lilly was born December 4, 1943, in Summers County, WV, the son of the late Leslie Richard Lilly and Mary Ellen Lilly. He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. Richard was employed as a tour maintenance foreman by Westvaco for thirty-five years before his retirement. He loved woodworking and enjoyed building custom cabinets and furniture for the people he knew. Richard was a member of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Lilly is survived by a his son, Richard Paul Lilly and wife, Tammy of Covington; his daughter, Paula Lilly Barton and husband, Ed of Lewisburg, WV; two grandchildren, Amber Dawn Wells and husband, Matt of Covington and Jesse Ray Lilly and wife, Samantha Shifflett Lilly; six great grandchildren, Landon Todd Wells, Harper Grace Wells, Payton Joyce Wells, Noah Ray Lilly, Hayes Preston Lilly and Madison Michael Lilly; and brothers, Zina Lilly and
wife, Lou of Nimitz, WV and Dewey Lilly and wife, Linda of Prince George, VA; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Lilly was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Lilly and a sister, Josie Hatcher.
A visitation will be conducted on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
Funeral rites will be conducted by Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
