Leslie (Buckethead) Lawson

Mr. Leslie Allen (Buckethead) Lawson, age 66, went to be with the Lord on July 13, 2025.

He was born August 24, 1958, in Covington, the son of the late Robert and Jenny Lawson. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and brother-in-law. Buckethead could make anyone laugh with one of his one-liners. He was a gentle giant with a big heart. Buckethead truly served his community between Special Olympics, Boy Scouts Jamboree and anything at the Moose Lodge. Buckethead was a longtime member of the Covington Moose Lodge #610 where he served as an administrator, the district secretary and whatever else was needed. Buckethead had been awarded the Pilgrim Degree of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He worked for B.A. Fridley Construction for thirty years.

Mr. Lawson served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Buckethead was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Clifton Forge. He loved spending time with his family and loved making people laugh. He enjoyed giving people a hard time and if you asked his opinion he didn’t sugarcoat it.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa; a daughter, Gabrielle Hedge (Elijah Hedge); two grandchildren, Lilian (Libby) Shaw and Isaac (Scooter) Hedge; two brothers, Tommy (Christine) Lawson and Randy Lawson; one sister, Lisa Lawson; a number of nieces and nephews; special friends, B.A. Fridley and Ricky Fridley who were more like family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jenny Lawson and his brothers, Wayne Lawson and Fletcher Lawson.

The family will receive friends and family on August 2, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the Covington Moose Lodge.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Special Olympics – Area 18, 305 South Craig Avenue, Covington VA 24426

Arrangements are being handled by Loving Funeral Home; to view Buckethead’s memorial tribute page, please visit www.lovingfuneralhome1913.com.
