BUENA VISTA, Va. (VR) – Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) will host a series of Summer Enrollment Events at the new Joe Wilson Workforce Center in Buena Vista, located at 2019 Forest Avenue, to help new students get started on the path to career training and higher
education.

The Joe Wilson Workforce Center provides hands-on training in high-demand fields such as Welding, Precision Machining, Industrial Technology, Building Trades, Truck Service & Diesel Technician, CDL, Electrical, and Plumbing.

In addition to classes at the Joe Wilson Workforce Development Center, students can also enroll in credit and non-credit programs offered at MGCC’s main campus in Clifton Forge and at the new McCormick Building in Buena Vista. Program options include fields such as Business,
Forestry, Nursing, Liberal Arts, and more.

The walk-in events will take place at the Joe Wilson Workforce Center on:
● Tuesday, July 29, from 5 to 7 p.m.
● Thursday, July 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.
● Saturday, August 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

These events are first come, first served. No appointment or pre-registration is required. MGCC advisors will be available on-site to guide you through every step of the enrollment process, from selecting the right program to completing funding applications. The goal is to keep things simple, reduce stress, and remove barriers for new students.

Financial aid staff will also be on hand to walk you through the FAFSA and explore other funding options. To make the most of your visit, we recommend bringing the necessary documents listed here: studentaid.gov/articles/things-you-need-for-fafsa

If you’re interested in Workforce short-term training programs, we encourage you to reach out in advance to learn exactly what materials you’ll need to bring. Contact Robin Jennings at rjennings@mgcc.edu for details.

Student Support staff, Veteran Support staff, faculty members, and other MGCC representatives will also be in attendance. Program flyers and informational materials will be available for all attendees.

For more information about the Summer Enrollment Event, MGCC programs, or MGCC Workforce Solutions, contact Student Services at 540-863-2820 or visit www.mgcc.edu.
