Robert Duane “Dewey” Davis, Sr.
Robert Duane “Dewey” Davis, Sr., age 93 of 250 Echo Valley Road in Millboro, Virginia died on Friday, June 20, 2025 at the Hospice of the Piedmont, Charlottesville, Virginia.
Dewey was born on October 26, 1931 in Bath County to the late Robert Martz Davis and Dora Edith Burke Davis, and raised with Sam Burke. He served in the United States Air Force from ’52 to ’56. Dewey enjoyed a lifetime of farming in Bath County, attended Millboro Presbyterian Church, and was an avid hunter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Mae Wood Davis; a son, Frank D. “Bo” Shrader; a daughter, Lewanne Davis; as well as a sister, Lew Moore and a brother William Davis.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan Shrader Muehleck (Jim) of Martinsville; two sons, Wes Shrader (Sharon) and Robert D. Davis, Jr., both of Millboro; nine grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews; and special family members, Nora Howell, Georgia Tennant, and Sam Burke.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 2:00 PM in Camp Nimrod for Girls, 134 Vineyard Farm Road, Millboro, VA.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Millboro Area Fire and Rescue.
