HILLSVILLE, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany High School boys’ tennis team extended its undefeated run to 10–0 overall and 4–0 in the district with a solid 7–2 win on Thursday, continuing a dominant season while recognizing room for improvement.
The Cougars started strong, opening with doubles play and securing key wins to set the tone for the match. Despite the final 7–2 scoreline, Head Coach Seth Davis emphasized that the performance wasn’t the team’s sharpest.
“I’m glad we won, but we were sloppy in some areas. We need to play a lot better against Radford on Monday,” Coach Davis said following the match.
The team has shown consistency throughout the season, with a strong mix of experienced players and younger talent stepping up in key moments. Their ability to compete under pressure has contributed to a string of impressive wins.
With a perfect record and control of the district standings, Alleghany now turns its attention to a critical matchup on Monday against Radford—a team known for its strength and postseason success. The outcome could have major implications for the rest of the season.
