LOW MOOR, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany Varsity Lady Cougars came out firing on Tuesday, riding a lights-out pitching performance from Emma Skidmore to a 6-1 win over Glenvar—and honestly, it wasn’t even close.
Skidmore was in full beast mode in the circle. We’re talking 10 strikeouts, only five hits allowed, and just one run across seven innings. She had Glenvar’s lineup spinning in circles like a TikTok trend gone wrong. Every inning she stepped in that circle, she owned it.
The Cougars didn’t waste any time putting runs on the board either. In the third, Laken Cantrell came through clutch with a base hit that brought in the first run and set the tone. After that? It was go-time. Kaylee Nicely was running the middle of the lineup like a pro, knocking in two runs and keeping the Cougars rolling.
Let’s talk about that offense though—10 hits total. That’s some serious squad depth. Cantrell and Bri Terrell each had two hits, showing that this lineup isn’t just about power, it’s about consistency. Glenvar tried to bounce back with a solo shot in the sixth, but it was too little, too late.
And defensively? Flawless. No errors. Not one. Terrell was a wall at her spot with 10 chances in the field—girl was everywhere.
Glenvar had a couple players show up—shoutout to Tuebert and Street with two hits a piece—but the Cougars were just too strong from start to finish. Skidmore was dealing, the bats were hot, and the defense was locked in.
