Donna Kate Myers

Donna Kate Myers, age 71, formerly of Clifton Forge, Virginia went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Hospice House of Savannah in Savannah, Georgia.

Donna was born July 5, 1953 in Smyth County, Virginia to the late Hascue Coleman Myers and Evelyn Kate Shupe Myers. Raised in the beautiful state of Virginia, Donna graduated from Clifton Forge High School in 1971 and Roanoke Memorial School of Nursing in 1974. When she could no longer work as an operating room nurse due to health problems, Donna returned to school and obtained a teaching degree from Mary Baldwin College and taught English until her retirement.

Donna is survived by her loving husband, Rob Liakos and her brother, Dana Myers (Leslie), of Savannah, GA; her son, Erik Furry (Cathleen) of Roanoke; daughters, Heather Furry of Clifton Forge and Jessica Cooper (Matt) of Fuquay Varina, NC.

In addition to the pride and love she had for her children, Donna found great joy in her six grandchildren, Brynn Furry Godfrey, Jonathan and Grace Cooper, Katelynn, Sebastian, and Eva Furry, and never to be left out, Scarlett, her fur baby who served as her faithful protector and friend. Donna was fortunate to have touched and be touched by so many in her lifetime, including several nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many dear friends. She cherished and carried all of these relationships in her heart.

In keeping with Donna’s wishes, her body has been cremated and her ashes will be returned to Virginia for final disposition. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, 405 Alleghany Street, Clifton Forge, VA with Reverend Lynn Wright. The family will visit with friends that Saturday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
