Virginia State Police Investigating Botetourt County Fatal Crash

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (VR) – Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash. The crash occurred Wednesday (Mar 19) at 5:30 p.m. on Route 220, one half mile south of Buhrman Road in Botetourt County.

A 2000 Ford F-750 was traveling north on Route 220, when a piece of the truck’s braking system detached from the truck and struck a 2023 Hyundai Kona which was traveling south on Route 220.

The driver of the Hyundai was identified as Chad Hunter Ferguson, 44, of Roanoke Va. Mr. Ferguson was wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.

Charges are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
