Donald “Donnie” Elmo Mace Jr.
Donald “Donnie” Elmo Mace Jr. age 68, passed away on March 15, 2025. He was born on February 14,1957 in Bath County, Va.
He pursued a variety of trades, as many would say, a “jack-of-all-trades.” He could whip up a mean meal as cook, fix just about anything as a mechanic, and build or repair anything as a carpenter. He was always tinkering, and always ready to lend a hand. He had a love for the rain, which he mentioned often and said it helped him to sleep.
Donnie had a passion for cars, particularly NASCAR. He could often be found watching races or enjoying YouTube videos of car crashes and races, a pastime that brought him much enjoyment.
His biggest love, though, was his four daughters, whom he cherished with all his heart. He also deeply valued the bonds he shared with his siblings. He loved telling stories about his wild nights with his brothers, stories that were always full of laughter and good-natured mischief. He especially enjoyed spending time with his brother Danny and had fond memories of working alongside his brother Ray. Donnie had a sense of humor and loved to tell jokes, bringing laughter to those around him. He also enjoyed reminiscing about his youth, sharing stories and memories with family and friends. He was a member of the Iron Gate Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Donald Elmo Mace, Sr. and Betty Jean Liptrap Mace, Donnie was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Jean Mace, and a granddaughter, Elliot Brummitte.
He is survived by his four daughters, Jennifer Brummitte (Mike Entsminger) of Millboro, Kayla Mace (Travis Gwin) of Hot Springs, Madison Mills (Chase) of Daleville, and Maggie Mace of Eagle Rock; four grandchildren, Dakota Brummitte, Ashley Brummitte, Isaac Gwin, and Harper Mills; brothers and sisters, Jo Ann Bowen (David) of Covington, Tammy Hupman of Roanoke, Danny Mace (Dawn) of Maryland, and Ray Mace (Tammy) of Covington; many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunts; and his amigo, David Diaz Mendez.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. The family will visit with friends on Saturday afternoon, March 22, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. Following this time, family and friends may join together for a shared meal at Iron Gate Baptist Church in Iron Gate.
