LOW MOOR, Va. (VR) – One person was arrested after being removed from yesterday’s Alleghany Highlands School Board meeting. Alleghany County Sheriff, Kyle Moore released the following statement:

Yesterday evening March 17, 2025 at the Alleghany Highlands Public Schools, scheduled school board meeting things got a little heated.  When discussion about the return of students to the school was taking place, Mr. Jared McGuffey spoke out of turn and when he was asked to remain quiet, he became angry and subsequently was removed from the building.  On his way out, Mr. McGuffey damaged the exit door to the building.  McGuffey was then arrested and charged for a violation of 18.2-137. (damage to property) McGuffey was cooperative with law enforcement personnel.

Mr. McGuffey was served a bar letter from the AHPS staff on March 18, 2025.

He was released on his personal recognizance.
