COVINGTON, Va, (VR) – In an exciting development for youth sports in the area, Covington Middle School has introduced its first-ever Girls Soccer Team this year. The inaugural season has kicked off with remarkable enthusiasm, drawing an impressive turnout of young athletes eager to represent their school on the soccer field.
Coach Carlee Lanford, expressed her satisfaction with the team’s formation stating “We had an impressive turnout for the first year of having the program. Our team is well balanced with a mix of experienced players and some newbies.” Lanford highlighted on of the team’s key strengths: “One of our strengths is definitely the team morale we’ve created throughout practicing. The girls are very encouraging of each other.” “The team is blending extremely well,” Coach Landford, noted, underscoring the importance of chemistry in the newly formed team. As the team approaches its first match on Wednesday, Landford exudes confidence in her players “I feel confident going into our match on Wednesday that the girls will play to the best of their ability,” The Lady Cougars will host Breckinridge Middle School at the Jackson River Sports Complex on Wednesday at 5:30.
