COVINGTON Va, (VR) – On Saturday March 1st, Boys Home basketball star Ephy Morris etched his name in the program’s history books. During an away game against Quantico Middle/High School, Morris surpassed the 1,000-point career mark, becoming only the fourth player in Boys Home history to achieve this impressive milestone.
Morris, who entered the game needing 16 points to reach the coveted 1,000-point threshold, delivered a stellar performance, scoring 21 points and pushing his career total to 1,005. The achievement came as a surprise to Morris himself, who was unaware of how close he was to the milestone until late in the game.
“I did not think I had the opportunity for this achievement, since our last game was canceled. I was just playing to enjoy my last game,” Morris reflected after the game. “At a certain point during the game, Head Coach Smith told me I only needed five more points to reach 1,000.”
With the support of his teammates, Morris rose to the occasion. “Luckily, my teammates put me in a good position to score with a three-point shot and then a layup. After those two shots, I knew I had made it,” he said.
The moment was particularly poignant for Morris, who recognized the significance of his accomplishment. “I realized in that moment, that all the hard work I put in helped me achieve this milestone. I am grateful,” he added.
Boys Home is planning a celebration to honor Morris’s remarkable achievement. This recognition not only highlights Morris’s individual success but also underscores the strength of the Boys Home basketball program, which has now produced four 1,000-point scorers in its history.
