Frank D. Williamson
Frank D. Williamson, age 91, passed away on February 24, 2025, at the Brian Center.
Mr. Williamson was born in Bluefield, WV of parents Lawrence A. Williamson and Julia B. Davidson Williamson.
Educated in the public schools of the Bluefield area, he graduated from Concord (College) in 1955. He was employed by the First National Bank of Bluefield for a number of years, after which he decided to try teaching instead. He became a business teacher at Bland High School, Bland, VA in 1961 and taught there for 4 years. Having decided that teaching would be his life’s work, he obtained a M.S. in Business Administration from Virginia Tech during 1966-67.
In the fall of 1967, he became a business instructor at DSLCC (now Mountain Gateway Community College), Clifton Forge, VA from which he retired in 1998.
Frank was an avid reader, a hiker (hiking many portions of the Appalachian Trail) and a gardener (waging war with the many deer in Intervale). He was an elder, Sunday school teacher and treasurer (for over 30 years) at Calvary Christian Church, Covington, VA.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Charlotte A. Hopkins Williamson of Covington and their children Ann B. Swartz (Mark) of Niles, MI and Jeffrey F Williamson (Hsiu-i) of Falls Church, VA. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: David and Ross Swartz; May Linn Pardini (Kevin) and Frank L. Williamson.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1 at 11:00 A.M in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral home with Reverend Mike Warren officiating.
Interment will be made at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends an hour before the service.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home of Covington.
