Last week was a busy and productive one in Washington as Republicans took bold steps to protect our values and move our Nation forward. President Trump signed an Executive Order ensuring that women’s sports remain fair and safe by banning biological males from competing against female athletes. I had the honor of co-chairing the National Prayer Breakfast, a time for reflection, prayer, and unity among lawmakers. In the House, we passed the HALT Fentanyl Act, a crucial step in fighting the deadly fentanyl crisis devastating our communities. We also celebrated National Women and Girls in Sports Day and marked 84 years of the USO, which has provided unwavering support to our troops. It’s always a privilege to meet with organizations, constituents, and Sixth District student-athletes, recognizing their hard work and achievements. Rest assured, I will continue fighting for the shared values and best interests of Virginia’s Sixth District.
Fighting Against the Fentanyl Crisis
The fentanyl epidemic is wreaking havoc across our communities. Nearly 75,000 Americans lose their lives to fentanyl overdoses every year. Fentanyl has become the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18-49, and almost 70% of all drug overdoses involve this deadly substance.
I was proud to support the HALT Fentanyl Act, introduced by my colleague from Virginia, Congressman Morgan Griffith. This legislation permanently classifies fentanyl as a Schedule I drug and gives law enforcement the tools they need to combat trafficking and save lives.
I’m pleased to report that this bill passed the House with strong bipartisan support—a critical step toward protecting our communities and stopping the flow of this deadly drug.
President Trump Protects Women’s Sports
In recent years, the radical Left’s agenda has threatened the integrity of women’s sports, allowing biological males to compete against female athletes. This unfair and dangerous trend undermines Title IX protections, which have empowered generations of women in athletics, and puts female athletes at risk of injury and losing hard-earned opportunities. No female athlete should lose a scholarship, a trophy, or a spot on the podium because they are forced to compete against biological males.
With his recent Executive Order, President Trump took decisive action to protect the future of women’s sports. This order ensures that every female athlete has the opportunity to compete on a level playing field, preserving fairness and safety for all.
The National Prayer Breakfast
Since 1953, the National Prayer Breakfast has brought together lawmakers and leaders to pray and reflect on our Nation’s future. It was an incredible honor to co-chair this uplifting event, where members of Congress—both Republicans and Democrats—united in our shared faith in Jesus Christ.
Hearing powerful personal testimonies from my colleagues and President Trump was a reminder that no matter our differences, we are all seeking God’s guidance in our lives and leadership.
Celebrating USO 84th Birthday
For 84 years, the USO has been a cornerstone of support for our service members, boosting morale and keeping our deployed heroes connected to home. We wish the USO a happy 84th birthday and thank them for all they do for our military community
Celebrating National Women in Sports Day
Last week, we celebrated National Women and Girls in Sports Day, reaffirming our commitment to protecting the integrity of women’s sports and ensuring that every female athlete can compete safely and fairly. I was proud to support the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which upholds the legacy of Title IX. House Republicans remain steadfast in defending female athletes—we won’t let their hard-earned achievements be erased.
