Dear Editor,

On January 20, our newly inaugurated president pardoned more than 1500 people who on January 6, 2021, broke into the US Capitol building as Congress ratified the 2020 election. Among those pardoned were individuals who violently attacked and injured police officers. But if this bothers you, perhaps it shouldn’t.

As to what really happened on the day of Jan 6, Donald Trump as he ran for reelection last year said; “Let the voters decide.”

And we did. We once again elected Donald Trump to be our Commander in Chief. We decided that whatever happened on Jan 6 was not important enough to disqualify him to be our leader. We pardoned him. And by extension we also pardoned his loyal followers who only did what they thought he wanted them to do. They marched to the Capitol Building as he instructed them, and he spent the afternoon watching them on TV as they trashed the building. And beat up policemen.

Pardoned, and it’s all OK; get over it!  We have the government we deserve.
