LOW MOOR – Last Friday night it was another dominant display of basketball from Alleghany who sent the home crowd home happy with a resounding 66-31 Three Rivers District victory over Carroll County.

Alleghany showcased that this one wouldn’t be close as they built a double digit lead by the end of the first quarter and then held Carroll County to only two points in the second as they completely disrupted any rhythm the Cavaliers had by holding them to just nine total first-half points.

While the defense set the pace for Alleghany, it was the Cougars offense that lit it up from the field as they shot 60% (25-for-42).

Leading the way offensively was senior Bryce Leitch who put up another impressive 20-point outing as she scored a game-high 23 points. Leitch knocked down three 3-pointers and was 6-of-8 from the foul line.

Kelsey Nicely once again put together a solid outing in double digits scoring with a baker’s dozen 13 to go along with a game-high six rebounds. Meanwhile Kayden Jack scored eight, including two 3-pointers, and Emma Wolfe dished out a game-high five assists.

Alleghany’s stifling defense did what it needed to as they added another district victory to their record books. The Cougars held Carroll County to only six free throw attempts while AHS made more than the Cavs attempted as the Cougars were 10-for-16.

Raylee Goins led Carroll County in scoring with nine, while Madison Coleman had eight.
