COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – On December 30, 2024, officers from the Clifton Forge Police Department and the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a situation that resulted in a Use of Force by an Alleghany County Deputy.
Clifton Forge Police Department received a call for a shoplifting from a local business. After a suspect was identified the officers went to the residence. The suspect Xavier Jones, 37, currently residing at 1336 Jackson St. #15, Clifton Forge, VA. attempted to elude officers through a wood-line that was close by. Eventually the suspect ended up on Interstate 64 and was approached by the Alleghany County Deputy who gave commands to the suspect to stop. The suspect refused to cooperate with the Deputies instructions and was eventually tased and taken into custody.
The suspect was taken to Lewis Gale Alleghany and treated for his injuries and eventually taken to Lewis Gale Salem. In order to Lewis Gale Salem. In order to remain neutral and transparent, the Use of Force Investigation has been turned over to the Virginia State Police.
