William Lafayette “Sonny” Craft, Jr.
William Lafayette “Sonny” Craft, Jr., age 83, of 400 Commerce Avenue, Iron Gate, Virginia died Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Woodlands Health and Rehab, Clifton Forge, Virginia.
Sonny was born in Clifton Forge on October 31, 1941, a son of the late William Lafayette Craft, Sr. and Alice Miller Craft. He was a member of the Eagle Rock Methodist Church and the Iron Gate Fire Department. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, riding his motorcycle, and visiting the beach. Sonny loved to spend time with his family and friends throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tim Craft and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Burgess Craft of Iron Gate; a daughter, Pam Craft and a grandson, Eli Craft, both of Hendersonville, NC; cousins, Margaret Mae Dickert and husband Eugene, Elizabeth “Petey” Travis, Joyce Gordon, and David Shores and wife Debbie; sisters, Virginia Newcomb, Betty Wright, and Kitty Bryant and husband Danny; close friends, Gary and Carolyn Nicely and Steve and Becky Vess; as well as a host of cousins.
A memorial service to celebrate his life with be conducted on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Rev. Ray Sandifer and Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. Interment of cremated remains with follow privately at the Bethel Cemetery, Botetourt County. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning, January 11th, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Iron Gate Volunteer Fire Department. The family would like to recognize the fine staff of the Woodlands Health and Rehab and David Shores for excellent care given to Sonny.
