LOW MOOR – The success from the Alleghany football program this past season carried over into the All-Region 3C first and second teams which featured seven Cougars players selected.

Alleghany had four players chosen to the first team: Des Jordan, Carter Nicely, Joe Rogers, and Xzavier Hayslett.

Meanwhile the second team featured three players: Hunter Knighton, Sarge Persinger, and Gavin Via.

Alleghany finished the season 11-1 after going undefeated during the regular season in which they captured the outright Three Rivers district title. The Cougars defeated Wilson Memorial in the regional quarterfinals before losing to Turner Ashby in the semifinals.

Liberty Christian once again were the top dogs of the region as they defeated Turner Ashby for a third straight consecutive season in the regional finals before going on to win another Class 3 state championship.

The Bulldogs head coach Frank Rocco was named the regional coach of the year, while Gideon Davidson was named the offensive player of the year. Davidson will be continuing with football at Clemson next Fall.

Turner Ashby senior, Beau Baylor was the regional defensive player of the year. Baylor was a first team running back and first-team linebacker.
