LYNCHBURG – Alleghany kicked off their indoor track season over the weekend at the Liberty Christmas High School Invitational in Lynchburg which featured over 100 schools.

The Cougars boys’ team was featured by Brycen Griffith who finished 14th in the long jump following a reach of 19-5.00. Meanwhile Maddox Wickline placed fourth overall in the unseeded 500-meter Dash and with a time of 1:09.78.
 
The boys 4×400-meter relay team consisting of Griffith, Wickline, Evan Bishop, and Miles Christian finished 13th out of 17 teams and with a time of 3:40.43.
 
Leigha Buyers and Faith Barron also had top 20 finishes for the girls’ team. Buyers with a time of 1:28.25 finished 15th in the unseeded 500-meter dash, while Barron placed 17th in the 3,200-meter run following a time of 12:48.74.
 
On Thursday Alleghany is back on the track as they head to Roanoke College for the Easter Coast Elite event.
