An Alleghany County Grand Jury issued 155 indictments for illegal drug violations as a result of investigations by the Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force.
Thursday, over 35 members of the Alleghany Drug Task Force with assistance by other area law enforcement officers began serving the indictments.
Officers from the Clifton Forge Police Department, the Virginia Department of Alcohol Beverage Control, Virginia Game and Inland Fisheries, Virginia State Police, CSX Police, Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office, Bath County Sheriff’s Office, Iron Gate Police Department and the Covington Police Department assisted task force members in serving the indictments.
The Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force consists of officers froom the Virginia State Police, the Bath, Alleghany, and Highland county sheriff’s offices, and the Covington Police Department.
The task force will release a list of individuals who have been arrested at a later date. The task force policy is to release and names and photographs of individuals arrested on felony drug violations.
