Low Moor, Va. (VR) – Colleagues, friends, family and members of the community gathered at LewisGale Hospital Alleghany on Friday, Nov. 22 to celebrate Brenda Woodie’s 50th work anniversary. An executive administrative assistant, Woodie began her career at the hospital in November 1974. The party was a surprise for Woodie who became emotional when she realized what she thought was a Friendsgiving meal was actually a celebration in her honor. “It means more than I could ever put into words,” Woodie said.
During the celebration, Nicole Tucker, interim chief executive officer/chief nursing officer, unveiled a plaque naming the board meeting room the “Brenda Woodie Board Room” in recognition of Woodie’s dedication and commitment to the hospital. “Words aren’t adequate to express how much Brenda means to us,” Tucker said. “She is a person of great integrity who has touched countless lives over the years. She has truly made this hospital, community and each of us better for knowing and working alongside her.”
With this milestone, Woodie is among the most tenured employees at LewisGale’s parent company, HCA Healthcare, a global company with nearly 300,000 colleagues.
Woodie serves on numerous organizations including the Community Services Board and the Alleghany Area Council of Released Time Weekday Religious Education. She said she has no plans to retire or slowdown anytime soon.
