Buffaloes on top again at Olde Mill Golf Resort

LAUREL FORK – Another Three Rivers District golf event, another top-place finish for Floyd County.
 
In the final TRD golf event of the season, the Buffaloes shot a days best 317 as a team at the Olde Mill Golf Resort in Laurel Fork. FCHS was led by Isaiah Cantrell (medalist) who shot an individual’s day best 75 for a 3-over-par. It was the first time since the second TRD golf outing of the season that Cantrell shot a day’s best at a TRD event, which coincidentally was also at the Olde Mill Golf Resort.
 
Floyd County held off a Glenvar team that finished second for only the second time at a TRD event. The Highlanders who had been a team around the 4-5 range for most of the TRD outings. GHS shot a 337.
 
For only the second time this season in TRD competition, Radford placed outside of the top two. The Bobcats finished third with a team score of 350. RHS shot a 373 for a fourth-place tie at the Great Oaks Country Club nearly a month ago.
 
Meanwhile Alleghany finished the day in fourth place with a team score of 363, which was three shots better than they did the first time at the Olde Mill Golf Resort (366). Kai Rowland led the Cougars with an 87. The junior last led AHS at the Pete Dye River Course several weeks back when he shot an 86. 
 
Also amongst Alleghany golfers were Landon Arritt who shot an 89, while Jacob Morris scored a 91, and Haden Spinks carded a 91.
 
Carroll County (373, Patrick County (375), and James River (377) rounded out the event in order at the Olde Mill Golf Resort.
 
Alleghany closed out their regular season on Monday at the Elks Country Club in Lewisburg, W.Va.
