LEXINGTON – In just their second match of the season, there would not be a need for a dramatic comeback win as Alleghany crushed Rockbridge County 25-17, 25-22, 25-17 in straight sets in a non-district volleyball match in Lexington on Thursday.
After a marathon volleyball match in the team’s season opener on Monday in which Alleghany prevailed victorious after a decisive fifth set, the Cougars came out rolling in their second match of the season by thrashing their adversaries by needing only three sets for the win.
Kaiya Lian once again led the way for the Cougars with 10 kills and 10 digs. In only two games this season Lian now has 35 kills. Kendra Dressler was once again tops in assists as she dished out 25 assists in the win. Laken Tingler added seven kills.
The Cougars moved to 2-0 on the season and have won six straight sets after dropping their first two in the season opener.
In JV volleyball, Alleghany picked up their first win of the season and improved to 1-1 following a 25-10, 25-11 victory over the Rockbridge’s JV squad.
