WHITE SULPHUR SPGS, WVa- For the second consecutive year, the Greenbrier will host a LIV Golf tournament at the Old White Course from Friday, Aug. 16 to Sunday, Aug. 18.

Last year, the community did not know what to expect in its inaugural appearance in Greenbrier County, but the reviews were all positive and some fans that attended called it “the best golf tournament they have ever been to.”

This year, the tournament is hoping to add even more excitement for the fans and for the sport as well. Many big-name golfers will grace the greens such as Bryson DeChambeau (last year’s LIV Greenbrier winner), Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, Brooks Koepka, Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood, and many more.

In Dechambeau’s victory last September, it was his first individual victory where he shot a record-breaking score of 58 that still stands as the lowest round score in LIV history. He has since become one of the top golfers in the world and his popularity seems to grow daily. He is the captain of the team, Crushers GC.

Although he is fresh off a US Open championship, DeChambeau has yet to win a LIV Golf tourney this year.

““I’ve got to win one. I need to win one,” DeChambeau said.

“That’s my full goal.” he added.

There are just two regular-season tournaments remaining, including Greenbrier, before the teams compete in the Dallas Team Championship at season’s end.

The tournament consists of three rounds/54 holes of stroke play. There are 54 players competing with four players on 13 teams. Last year’s team winner was Torque GC led by captain Joaquin Niemann. Niemann is currently the Indvidual standings points leader coming into this week.

Jon Rahm of Legion XIII is the most recent individual winner of a LIV Golf event when he secured a title at LIV Golf UK and is ranked second currently right behind Niemann.

Fun Fact: Caleb Surratt is the youngest active LIV golf player at 20 years of age. Mickelson is the oldest at 54.
