Once started as a small church project in Claude and Roby Broce’s back yard in the early 1950s has not become a state-of-the-art Apple Butter Festival.
People come from many states to share in the day’s activities.
This year, the festival will be held Saturday at Eden United Methodist Church located three miles south of Hot Springs off of Route 687.
Watch for the signs.
Those attending can see apple butter kettles simmering with fresh apple butter, handmade crafts, gift items, apple pies, and other baked goods; food including barbecue chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, fried country ham sandwiches and more.
There will be children’s activities including face painting and a duck pond.
The youth of the church help with the games and make candy apples and fresh apple cider to sell.
All concessions are provided by Eden United Methodist Church with proceeds used by the church’s building fund.
The festival begins at 9 a.m. and lasts all day with gospel music and a banner that proclaims, “Jesus is the Apple of our Eye.”
