A contractor was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital Tuesday after being injured at MeadWestvaco’s Covington mill.
The accident occurred at approximately 11:40 a.m. in an area near the mill’s No. 1 and No. 2 paper machines, company spokeswoman Becky Johnson said.
The injured man was intially treated by the MeadWestvaco Rescue Squad before being airlifted to Roanoke by Lifeguard 10 helicopter.
Johnson said the accident remains under investigation.
