Peggy Doris Arrington, 81, of 104 Rosedale Ave., died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Brian Center Nursing Care, Low Moor.
Ms. Arrington was born July 30, 1928, in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late George Lewis Arrington and Evelyn Carter Arrington.
A lifetime resident of this community, she was a former employee of the Alleghany county commissioner of the revenue office. Ms. Arrington was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a former member of Calvary Christian Church, where she sang in the choir. She loved music and enjoyed singing for other people in the nursing home. She was devoted to her family and had special relationships with all of her nieces and nephews.
Ms. Arrington is survived by two sisters, Patsy A. Parker and husband, O.E. Parker Jr., Gaynell A. Parker and husband, Burton Parker, all of Covington; a brother, James Lewis Arrington and wife, Judy Hatcher Arrington of Tampa, Fla; four nieces, Susan Parker Potter, Molly Parker, Rebecca Parker Hudson, Anna Sue Stephens; two nephews, Alan Weade and Bobby Weade; three grand nieces; six grand nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, in the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael C. Fleenor officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be B.R. Rupert, Jesse Carter, Joe Wimer, Burton Parker, Kevin Hudson, Billy Potter, David Carter, John Shifflett and O.E. Parker Jr.
The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1 p.m. until service time at Loving Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, 900 N. Alleghany Avenue, Covington, Va. 24426.
