HOT SPRINGS – The top-seeded Bath County Chargers (17-5) captured the Pioneer District Tournament Championship last Thursday evening in Hot Springs.
 
The Chargers won in straight sets over 3-seeded Eastern Montgomery who had knocked off 2-seeded Parry McCluer in the semifinals. 
 
Junior Delaney Hicklin and senior Lindsay Oliver paced with district tournament champions with eight kills each. Sophomore Kenley Smith dished out another stellar performance in the assists category with 20, while senior Hannah Armstrong had 25 digs. Senior Caleigh Hazelwood added a team-high four aces. 
 
BCHS won all three matches with EMHS this season with never having had lost a set (9-0). 
 
Bath County will take their regular season and tournament district titles into the Class 1, Region C tournament. The Chargers hosted Grayson County on Tuesday in Hot Springs.
 
Pioneer District Tournament Championship
Eastern Montgomery vs Bath County
Set 1: 25-18

Pioneer District Tournament Semifinals – Bath defeats Narrows 3-1
In their district tournament semifinal, Bath County for the third time this season defeated Narrows. 
 
After falling 25-5 in the first set, the Green Waves bounced back in a big way in the second set for a 25-15 victory.
 
In the closest set of the match, the Chargers rallied back for a narrow 25-23 win and finished off NHS with a 25-10 win in the fourth and final set for the victory.
 
Lindsay Oliver led the way with eight kills, while Kenley Smith put together a strong performance with 20 assists and a match-high four aces. Meanwhile Bayley Gardzinski added five kills to lead the team, and Caleigh Hazelwood added five blocks.

Narrows vs Bath County
Set 1: 25-5
Set 2: 15-25
Set 3: 25-23
Set 4: 25-10
