BUENA VISTA – Nine up. Nine down. Nine wins in a row.

Bath County (9-0, 3-0 Pioneer) remained unbeaten on the football field following a 55-0 blowout victory over Parry McCluer (5-4, 1-2 Pioneer) on Friday in a Pioneer District contest in Buena Vista.

You can sense this amazing ride the Chargers are on is just getting started.

Parry McCluer was set to be the toughest test for Bath County to date having entered the game with 5-wins and especially given the history between the two programs.

Throughout the last eight years, the Fighting Blues have had the Chargers number winning eight in a row.

Finally, that eight-game losing streak to Parry McCluer was snapped. Fittingly enough, the last time Bath County had beaten the Fighting Blues was also on the road in Buena Vista.

The Chargers defense was dominant once again as they put together their fourth shutout performance in their last five games. BCHS forced five turnovers.

Braiden Mabe was a defensive nightmare for Parry McCluer. Mabe had a pick-6, forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

The BCHS defense allowed only 158-yards, while forcing the Fighting Blues to go 0-for-10 on third down plays.

Junior sensation Wyatt Campbell continued to showcase why he is one the top-players in not only the district, but the entire region. Campbell accounted for six touchdowns in the Chargers win.

Campbell finished with 104-yards on the ground on 16 carries, while also throwing for an additional 100-yards as he completed 6-of-14 passes. The junior now has 48 total touchdowns this season.

Luke Turner found the end zone twice for Bath County. Turner led the team with a pair of receptions for 70 yards. On both receptions, Turner scored from 35 yards out. Meanwhile, Mabe who had a big performance on defense also scored on offense on a 10-yard touchdown reception.

Once again, the Chargers rushing-attack could not be stopped as they put together a 245-yard day on the ground. Ethan Bryant may have not found the end zone, but he strung together a 94-yard performance in the backfield. Andrew Turner added a 10-yard touchdown run for BCHS.

Bath County’s offense finished with 345-yards and did not commit a turnover in the win.

The Chargers, in all nine wins, have scored over 40 points.

This Friday will be the biggest game in 20 years for the program as Bath County hosts the Narrows Green Waves (7-2, 3-0 Pioneer) for the Pioneer District regular season championship. The Chargers are also one win away from the programs first unbeaten regular season since 2003.
